June Theme - Stillness
Our monthly theme is Stillness!
Stillness in the earthly realm largely means the absence of noise and/or movement, sugggesting a place in nature devoid of anthrophony.
In Yoga, stillness is almost synonymous with the Atman, or the soul that's pure and unchanging, and part of universal consciousness. Stillness underlies and encompasses all that we can see, hear, touch and feel. Its presence is constant and implied in noise or silence,
Instead of finding stillness in between your thoughts or in gaps in sound, sense stillness as the vast backdrop that holds all thoughts, all sounds, all creation.
Next time you sit in meditation, consider what stillness feels like, where it exists and where it rests within you. Does stillness have a sound? A vibration? A certain quality?
“Listen to things speaking in spite of their apparent silence, and hear the sitllness in spite of the world’s seeming noise.” — Sahajananda, Hridaya Yoga
